This North Philadelphia property was developed for light industrial purposes circa 1901, and used as a furniture factory (Pooley Furniture Company ) from at least 1901 until 1921. Pooley made radio cabinets for Atwater Kent and other radio manufacturers. After Pooley left, the property was eventually taken over by Wilder Brothers – a paper distributor, and later by Huff Paper.
The building will be carefully restored and renovated into 30+ artists studios/business offices ranging in size from 250 to 6000 sq ft., with tenants including local artists and entrepreneurs. Many of the building’s unique architectural features will be preserved such as exposed brick walls, restored beams, and other original decorative features.
This adaptive reuse of a former warehouse will offer affordable work spaces perfect for artist studios, galleries, small businesses, light manufacturing, and fabrication. These Warehouse Studios will maintain the original use of the building as light industrial space.
Amenities will include individual HVAC for each unit, package room, outdoor courtyard, secure parking on-site, secure bike storage in the courtyard, conference room, and event space. Some larger spaces have private bathrooms, utility sinks, and kitchenettes.
